Star War: The Mandalorian is well underway now, and fans are dying to get a glimpse into the mysterious third season. The show had successfully stayed airtight in the past, so leaks are rare. The plot of the next season can be guessed (thanks to the darksaber), but no one will know until the season premiere. Some of the main characters are guaranteed to return, but a few other characters don’t know their fate just yet. One of those is Migs Mayfeld, played by Bill Burr.

Bill Burr is known to have never indulged in Sci-Fi movies; the comedian has made consistent jokes about Star Wars, but that had just made him more appealing to Jon Favreau and the creative team for The Mandalorian. After his surprise appearance in the first season, fans were confused as to how he even got there. He had explained in an interview how it happened:

“I ran into Jon somewhere, hanging with Mike Binder. I should start giving that guy a commission. [Jon Favreau says to Bill] ‘I’m doing this Star Wars thing do you want to do something?’ and I’m like ‘I don’t know, I’m kind of always making fun of it.’ And he goes ‘I think it would be funny, I think your fans would get a kick out of the fact you’re in it.’ And I went in there and they’re shooting it like a Spaghetti Western and I was like immediately so psyched to be a part of it.”

His psyched attitude and the success of his character in the first season had opened up his return for season two, where he had some inspiring character development. That performance in season two blew fans away, so his return for season three would certainly be welcomed. Burr’s acting had shown a different side of the comedian, as we got a glimpse of Migs Mayfeld’s demons.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Burr had opened up his thoughts on returning to season three:

“Oh, I hope so. Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, who wrote both of my episodes that I did — to be a small part of something that big that is that good that means so much to so many people. I’m obviously not allowed to say anything other than I just absolutely love being on that show and I hope it continues and if it doesn’t, I’ve had a blast.”

His attitude toward Star Wars seems to have shifted. Now that he plays a role in the show, he has grown his fan base and even gotten his own Black Series figure. His character has had complex and dynamic development as he plays more than just the usual comedian with a Boston accent. Burr appears to have newfangled respect for Star Wars, the fans, and what the series can offer.

Not only did we get a good look into Mayfeld’s past and his demons, but his relationship with Djarin has gotten deeper. They aren’t just mercenaries who do similar jobs anymore, but they are friends who have seen each other in their most vulnerable moments. A bond like that can be helpful in their line of work, so hopefully, we will see Djarin and Mayfeld team up again in season three of The Mandalorian
