The Mandalorian is one of the best additions to the Star Wars franchise in the last few years. The show had won multiple awards, blown fans away with the story, and stayed true to the spirit of Star Wars by using groundbreaking technology to make each episode feel more alive. Fans can’t get enough of the lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian can’t come soon enough, the show is already under production, but fans won’t expect to see it until Spring 2022 at the soonest. The usual production of the show had gotten pushed back due to the spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett. That will premiere on December 29th.

PLOT

Now that Grogu is safe with Luke Skywalker, where will Djarin’s next adventure take us? He has gotten the darksaber and is now the rightful ruler of Mandalore. Bo-Katan had been busy trying to find it and reunite the Mandalorian people, so could they team up to find more?

The direction that the show is headed hints toward that outcome. The Mandalorian clan that Djarin had belonged to was first introduced in season 1 but later expelled from the planet Nevarro. In season 2, he set out to find more Mandalorians and finds Bo-Katan, the princess of Mandalore. If staying on track with the past two seasons, Djarin will most likely send out a call to any surviving Mandalorians to return to reestablish their society.

With the darksaber in hand, the other Mandalorians will be more willing to return and build their society from the ground up. Bo-Katan would be a great figure to help guide Djarin in his new leadership role, but judging by his character (and Bo-Katan’s), it doesn’t feel that sort of scenario would occur smoothly.

Djarin is more of the lone ranger type; he likes his solitude and freedom to roam the galaxy. Bo-Katan is a die-hard Mandalorian. She has tried her entire life to restore Mandalore to the feared warrior society it once was, and now the only thing standing in her way is Djarin and the darksaber he possesses.

A recent leak suggests that fans will see more Mandalorians in this upcoming season. That means that Djarin’s clan of Mandalorians could be found, or he could be searching for others. Whatever the case may be, the leak was a good one.

CHARACTERS

Pedro Pascal is destined to return to his role as Din Djarin, the lead character of the series. His career has skyrocketed as he’s become a very sought-after actor in Hollywood, so his schedule consistently stays busy. He is currently filming The Last of Us in Alberta, Canada.

Pascal does an incredible job with Djarin. It is not an easy task to convey so much emotion while wearing a helmet 99% of the time, but he makes it seem easy.

Carl Weathers is also guaranteed to return as he had let his fans know on Twitter that he had arrived and begun filming for season three. You can read about that here. His character, Greef Karga, is still in charge of the Bounty Hunter’s Guild on Nevarro. He had hired Cara Dune, played by Gina Carano, to be his enforcer in the city, but she has since been released from Disney.

Gina Carano will not return as Cara Dune in season 3 of The Mandalorian, but the rumor mill has been turning, and she is supposedly going to return for season 4. Her coworkers had expressed their support for the actress and felt that she should not have lost her role as Cara Dune. She would have played a pivotal part in the planned Mandalorian spin-off Rangers of the New Republic, so her return would revive her role in that project.

Bill Burr has expressed his desire to return to The Mandalorian season 3. His character, Migs Mayfeld, had some serious character development in season 2, and he had offered a lot to the plot. He and Djarin had shared a vulnerable moment, so Migs would be a great person to join Djarin’s team. The only problem is that we don’t know what Djarin will be up to for season 3.Will he even need a team outside of Mandalorians?

RELEASE

Unfortunately, The Mandalorian is not on the usual schedule it was for the past two seasons. Fans had gotten used to the Winter release of the show, but now that will be delayed a year. The show will come out in 2022, most likely Fall/Winter, but there is a good chance it may come out sometime in late Spring. The spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett, had pushed the show back, and fans can expect that to premiere on Disney+ on December 29th.

Season 3 began filming a few weeks ago, so it looks like it is on schedule for late Spring. Numerous Star Wars projects are currently in the works, like Kenobi, Andor, and The Bad Batch season 2. Patty Jenkin’s movie Rogue Squadron has been delayed indefinitely.

I HAVE SPOKEN

That is about all the information out on season 3 of The Mandalorian. The show has successfully remained airtight in the past, and there is no doubt that they will be able to pull it off again. The Luke Skywalker finale had shocked not only the fans but the cast and crew of the show. Maybe Mark Hamill will return for a cameo in season 3 now that his younger self has been brought back to the screen thanks to CGI technology.
