Star Wars: The Mandalorian had begun filming for the third season a few weeks ago. The show will premiere sometime in 2022; it had been pushed back due to the spin-off show, The Book of Boba Fett, which will premiere on December 29th. The Mandalorian, or Din Djarin, is now on a new path. He has returned Grogu to the Jedi, and his fate lies in the newly won darksaber.
The plot for season three of The Mandalorian is still unknown, but due to the importance of the weapon, fans can gauge what to expect. Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) had expressed her interest in the weapon. In the previous season and she assisted Djarin on his mission to recover Grogu from Moff Gideon so she could get the darksaber back. But, now that it belongs to Djarin, their relationship has gotten complicated.
The Clone Wars and Rebels gave fans a good indication of Bo-Katan’s character and how important the darksaber is to restore Mandalore to its former glory. From that, fans can expect to see more Mandalorians. The first season introduced Djarin’s clan, but they had disappeared. They were either wiped out from the Empire or fled the planet. Djarin will certainly want to regroup with some of his own now that Grogu has been returned to the Jedi.
The Set Leak From The Mandalorian Shows An Unknown Mandalorian
Bespin Bulletin has leaked a few photos of this unknown character peering out from the blue curtains on the set, and his Mandalorian armor is clearly seen. It looks a tad rusty, similar to Djarin’s in season one, but this character can also be seen with the signature Mandalorian jet-pack.
This is most likely not a flashback to Djarin’s life before season one. He did not get his jet-pack until the end of the first season, so unless he had one and lost it somewhere along the way, it is a new Mandalorian character to join the cast.
This new character could be one of many, or they could slowly introduce more Mandalorians as Djarin and Bo-Katan travel the galaxy to search for others. They would ideally want to find enough to rebuild their society and have an army.
Now that the darksaber is back in the hands of a Mandalorian, others may be more willing to regroup and re-establish their way of life. The darksaber may act as a sort of beacon to call other Mandalorians back. After facing the brink of extinction, they may be more willing to work together than in the past.
