The hit series, now turned into a movie has gotten an official date. May 22, 2026, to be exact. The movie that will expand on the hit Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, will explore in further depth these two main characters and their impact on the universe. Beloved by fans all over, this movie will tie their story into a neat bow, giving us an ending on the two galactic pals.
This won’t be the only major movie for Disney to hit theaters in 2026 that will lead to a summer of blockbusters. Toy Story 5 will hit theaters on June 16, 2026, and the live-action Moana on July 10, 2026. This major summer of movies will be an exciting event to look forward to, especially because this is the first major film release of the billion-dollar franchise since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
Even though those movies had created a divide in the fandom, there is no denying that was a time to be alive as a Star Wars fan. It was Star Wars everything, everywhere. It looks like Disney’s intentions to rev up that theatrical machine can lead to another few years in the spotlight. The focus on the streaming shows was hit and miss, but with such a far-out release date for the film, we can (hopefully) expect the writers and directors to take their time with this project.
In the meantime, expect another season of The Mandalorian to hit Disney+ before the film’s release. The Acolyte premieres this summer.
