“The Mandalorian and Grogu are headed to the big screen.”
It appears that our favorite Galactic duo will be leaving the streaming television platform and heading to the silver screen. Jon Favreau’s brainchild will have three seasons and a movie, most likely due to the expensive costs of these shows and the (lack of) profits made through Disney+.
Season 3 of The Mandalorian had gotten mixed reviews, especially compared to its first two seasons, which were very well received among fans. Season 3 pivoted toward Bo’s character arc and her importance to the Mandalorian throne, as opposed to keeping the focus on Djarin and his importance in the Galaxy.
With season 4 turning into a movie, they will need to jam a lot into the two-hour run time that Star Wars movies typically have. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered. And with Ahsoka season 2 just beginning development, we’ll need an answer to how they get back to their Galaxy, how Thrawn is stopped, and what role Ezra will play with the remaining Jedi.
The official announcement comes from the official Star Wars page. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau. The producers are Favreau, Katheleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni. The film is expected to go into production later this year, 2024.
