Post updated 1/9/24.
After a successful first season that ended with a major cliffhanger, fans are dying to see more. Thrawn has made his way back to the Galaxy, Ahsoka and Sabine are stuck on this distant planet, and Baylon is in search of something, and it is most likely sinister. Rosario Dawson had given an update on the possibility of Ahsoka season 2, and for fans of the show, it is not good news. But as of January 9th, 2024, Lucasfilm has confirmed that Ahsoka will return for a second season.
At the time of writing and her interview on a podcast, Rosario had not heard any news regarding season 2. She had not received any updates, nor have there been any discussions, at least with her involved. Dawson shared the news with fans on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast.
Now, this may be due to Lucasfilm waiting until the New Year to address new projects, which she shared:
“I’m grateful that we have the holidays to go into. Even now with the strike over, there’s no work to be done. Everyone is at that point of ‘Let’s circle back at the end of the year’ kind of thing. And I’m like ‘Oh, thank God.’ Because I need a moment to keep taking this all in and seeing the reaction before I think about jumping into it again. Which I hope we get to. We’re supposed to be having a dinner soon, of whole cast. I was very jealous of seeing everyone at some of these cons recently, which I wasn’t able to be at. So I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”

The news isn’t necessarily bad. It has only confirmed that there has been no progress made. The timeline of Ahsoka aligns with The Mandalorian, which is returning for a 4th season (and is the top-streamed show on Disney+), so there is a very good chance that season 2 will happen, especially if it ties in with the storylines of Djarin, Grogu, or Bo. With the way things ended in season one, there is certainly no doubt that Filoni has plans for more.
Recent news (as of 1/9/24), has confirmed that Ahsoka will return for a second season. It is currently under development by creator, Dave Filoni. You can read the update on the confirmation here. This confirms that Dawson was not included in the discussions of the second season among the Lucasfilm executives. That is usually the case with major shows to avoid any sort of spoilers.
