There had been tons of Star Wars content that had us Star Wars fans very happy and full. The Mandalorian released and its weekly releases of episodes had the fans discussing and predicting what’s to come next, it was able to start reuniting the Fandom. Shortly after, JEDI: Fallen Order released and that game introduced a fantastic new story for fans to immerse themselves into and finally The Rise of Skywalker released in December.
The Rise of Skywalker, the conclusion to the Disney Star Wars Trilogy released in December and it was an epic finale. It doesn’t mean the end of Star Wars, though. We’ve all heard about the new movies that they’ll be creating and the controversy over who will direct the new films. Everyone knows that Mandalorian will have a second season because it was tremendously successful, the Child took the internet by storm and he is now everywhere.
There will be a break before we get to see his cute face and mystical force powers again in October, so what’s to come now?
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7
This is pretty huge, The Clone Wars is coming back and it was a creation of Lucas and Filoni. The new season will release February 21st on Dinsey+. The storyline to the series had given us tons of new characters, we got to see the development that wasn’t present in the Prequels, and it illuminated Anakin’s problems with the Jedi Order as time went on.
One of the favorite characters that the show introduced was Ahsoka Tano, Anakin’s padawan who *Spoiler Alert* got kicked out of the Jedi Order, invited back, and turned it down to walk her own path, away from the drama and doubt that was creeping into the council. Anakin had a huge problem with her being kicked out and when she leaves, you can really feel his emotion. The poor guy experiences a lot of loss throughout the series and that heavily contributes to his turn to the dark side.
What Might Will Happen?
Season 7 of the show will take place very close to the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Season 5 took place in the year before the movie takes place so this new season will pick up shortly after and lead us into the movie. The first 5 seasons did an excellent job beginning to bridge the gap between Episode II and III and this final season will hopefully complete the bridge and allow the two movies and the show to flow seamlessly.
Filoni hinted at what we should expect for the new season without giving too much information away. He let us know that we will get more of the story of Ahsoka and her leaving the order, we will see her in the underground of Coruscant trying to find her own way and establish a presence in the galaxy. The “Bad Batch” will be on screen and they will be featured in the first episode of the season, titled, “The Bad Batch” along with Rex and Cody.
The Clone Wars was an extremely popular showing while I was growing up and I am eager to see the conclusion to the series, where Ahsoka goes, and all the other factors that led to the tragic downfall of the Jedi Order and their way of life. The show began to touch upon those ideas and introduced some factors that explain how the Jedi’s judgment was so blurred. Perhaps we will see how Maul gained control of Crimson Dawn from Solo: A Star Wars Story and his rise to controlling an infamously dangerous crime organization.
The New Star Wars Movie
The next Star Wars movie is rumored to be set in the time of the “High Republic”. This will be 3,000 years after the events of Star Wars: The Old Republic and about 400 years before the Skywalker Trilogy; it will be centuries after the infamous Darth Bane and will be set closely to Yoda’s prime. Will he be a character in the new movie? It would be strange if he wasn’t, as such a popular and renowned character, it seems as though it only makes sense to feature him as a familiar face.

The High Republic and the Jedi featured will show adventures of them taking out non-force sensitive threats, keeping the peace throughout the galaxy, and show different areas of the force that we have not yet seen. To compare, the powers will be similar to superheroes, as each Jedi will have particular force gift[s] and abilities particular to themselves.
Sticking with the idea taken from the superhero movies, the new Star Wars movies won’t follow the trilogy format but will follow one more closely related to the MCU, where everything is webbed together by coexisting within the same timeline and universe. Changing the format will give them much more creative freedom and not make the movies so linear.
The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series
The Obi-Wan series that will be released on Disney+ is my most anticipated Disney Star Wars creation. Kenobi, revived by Ewan McGregor, will take place in his isolation on Tatooine and he watching over Luke. As one of the last surviving Jedi, Obi-Wan will seek refuge and isolation, while still staying in tune with the force and never giving up.

Kenobi will have experienced much loss at this point in his life, too. He will have lost the Jedi Order, Anakin to the dark side, and Duchess Satine to Darth Maul which may take a heavy toll on the Jedi Master. To watch his experiences and life more closely will be a great insight into one of the most favored characters from Star Wars.
McGregor, in an interview, said, “We start shooting at the very beginning of next year, they’re in pre-production from this summer. There are scripts that I’ve read that are really good, they’re continuing to write on them to make them even better, and we start very early next year” this is exciting news, Obi-Wan himself approves of the scripts and is eager to get started.
They are in pre-production now and shooting will start January 2021, shortly after the second season of The Mandalorian finishes. McGregor will make his return as Obi-Wan and according to the man himself, it shouldn’t be too difficult of a process getting back into character, “It’ll just be there, I think. Also, I’m reminding myself by watching their new films and The Mandalorian and stuff, I really enjoyed. I keep myself as current as I can with the Lucasfilm world. I don’t think it will take two minutes; I’ll put the cloak back on and I’ll be there, I think.”

We heard it directly from Obi-Wan and the series sounds like it will be promising. The Mandalorian was extremely successful and if they are able to keep the momentum going than the show will surely be a success. These aren’t the only two live-action Star Wars shows that will be coming to Disney+, either. A spy-thriller based on Cassian Andor from Rogue One will also be one of the shows.
Cassian Andor’s Spy-thriller
Diego Luna will also be making a return to the screen as he reprises his role as Cassian Andor, the spy who helped save the galaxy by getting the plans for the Death Star to the Resistance. The show is currently in development and will begin shooting in June of 2020. Tony Gilroy, a co-writer for Rogue One will be writing the pilot for the series, as well as directing a few episodes.

The plethora of Star Wars content that was released toward the end of 2019 is only the beginning of something much more epic. The success of The Mandalorian paved the way for the rest of these shows and gives us new hope.
I have Spoken
With so much to come in this upcoming year and to follow, Star Wars will remain in the spotlight for some more time. Star Wars has so much to offer with such a vast universe and history it seems that the possibilities are endless with what they can create in the future.
What show are you most excited for? Thank you for reading and may the force be with you!
