News for one of the most highly anticipated Disney+ shows has come from the Star Wars fansite, The Bespin Bulletin. The site reports “exclusive news” regarding The Acolyte. The show, created by Leslie Headland, will focus on the dark side of the Force during troubled times in the High Republic.

The site’s sources say that filming has begun earlier this week at Shinfield Studios, Berkshire. The onlookers reported an outdoor set that resembles a marketplace or town and star Amandla Stenberg on site. Details about the plot have not been revealed, but they could be setting the stage for a Sith dwelling, settlement, or something of that nature. The Acolyte’s focus on the darker side of Star Wars will invite a different approach than fans may be used to, but it will create a more rounded universe and franchise.

Other Members of The Acolyte

Along with Stenberg, Squid Game star Lee Jung-Jae is a part of the cast. The other announced cast stars are Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, and Charlie Barnett all for The Acolyte. The show is expected to film until May and release on Disney+ sometime in 2024. The mystery-thriller approach to this show entices fans. After the success of the similar themed Andor, high hopes remain for this period of the Galaxy.

Andor is expected to begin filming next month and is planned to run until August. Season 2 will most likely premiere sometime in 2024, after The Acolyte. The Bad Batch will premiere on January 4, 2023. Expect The Mandalorian sometime in 2023 and Star Wars: Visions in the Spring of 2023.
