Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm has allowed for plenty of new Star Wars content to be pumped out over the last few years. Although the movies may have been a bit decisive, there is no denying the fact that shows like The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and The Book of Boba have brought us all together, again. One of the most exciting new shows to premiere is Obi-Wan Kenobi. We’ll pick up on how his life was after the fall of the Jedi on May 25th. But, along with these exciting shows, it looks like there is a new animated show in the works.
The Confirmed New Show
Most recently, a Star Wars animation composer has teased a new project. In a Livestream on The Convor Call’s YouTube channel, Kevin Kiner had given us a small glimpse into his newest work.

“You know, we are working on a new project. It’s an animated project. It’s a Star Wars project. And that’s all we can say. It’s really, really frikkin’ great… To the point where Lucasfilm and Disney are giving us full orchestra for every episode… It’s a very special project, some great, great people are involved, and we’re really privileged to be part of that one. And I probably said too much already.”

It may not be much, but it is something to get excited about; it is always good to hear something new is in the works. The Clone Wars final season and The Bad Batch were fantastic, so more Star Wars animation will always be welcomed. Although he does not name the work, there is a good chance that it could be for the rumored animated series about Maul.
Kevin Kiner has creative freedom for each episode. This is certainly a good thing because his music for The Bad Batch, The Clone Wars, and Rebels have all felt very much like Star Wars. His music has been on par with the layout that John Williams created with the Original Trilogy, so music for Maul and his rise in the criminal underground has a lot of potential.
The Rumors of Maul
There have been rumors circling about an animated show that will focus on Maul and his rise in the underworld. Those rumors stem from Jordan Maison of Cinelinx. He says that voice recording has begun for a new Star Wars animated series. He admits that he does not know what they are for, but it makes the most sense for a series about Maul.
He also says that a second source has confirmed that voice actors familiar to The Clone Wars, like Dee Bradley Baker (various Clones), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker), and Sam Witwer (Maul), were recording something. It may be The Bad Batch season 2, but it could be something newer.
There are other rumors from multiple sources that all say the same thing. Maul. The show would most likely pick up post-season 7 of The Clone Wars, where we last saw Maul as he escaped. His next appearance after that was him as head of Crimson Dawn in Solo, and after that, it was him as a hermit in Rebels. There are a few gaps in his story that would allow for a lot of exploration.
