One of the newest things to hit Disneyland, CA is the addition of a Galaxy’s Edge. Disneyland is known for its ability to immerse its guests in each land they walk through; everything is tightly knit and well organized. You’ll only see the characters where they belong, themes that fit, and even trash cans that blend in.

Toward the back of the park, behind Frontierland is the new Galaxy’s Edge. Home to the resistance, smugglers, The First Order, and a lovely outpost. Disney went all out with the atmosphere there, you feel like you’ve just stepped off a Corellian Corvette and into a whole new world.

Welcome to Batuu

Batuu sits on the Outer Rim of the galaxy, right before Wild Space and the Unkown Regions. Batuu used to be a popular spot as it served as a crossroad to sub-lightspeed trade routes, but when the invention of hyperspace travel came about the planet fell off the map.

Now, it is home to smugglers, rogue traders, adventurers, and anyone who doesn’t want to be found. By 34 ABY the Resistance and the First Order made their way to the Outer Rim. The resistance found a bunker in some ruins on the planet, where Rey found time to study the ancient texts. Because of Hando Ohnaka, after the battle of Crait, the Falcon made its way there, too.

It didn’t take long before Kylo Ren discovered Rey was hiding there with the Resistance and he began to occupy the outpost. There are plenty of characters walking around, including R2-D2, who wanders Batuu looking to recruit members for the resistance.

Black Spire Outpost

Black Spire Outpost is the village in Batuu. Here you will find shops for clothes, toys, trinkets, and much more, as well as, a place to eat and get yourself blue or green milk or see some landspeeders in a shop. There are plenty of things to see and do here.

Merchant Row

The partially covered street in Black Spire Outpost that is home to the merchants of Batuu. Here you will find several merchant stands that host a variety of products from all over the galaxy.

The Toydarion Toymaker is an interesting place to see, there are many handmade toys there that reflect the sort of environment you would expect on Batuu. The sort of isolation that the planet gives fits perfectly as you wander around merchant’s row.

Creature Stall is another interesting place to see. Here you can find exotic animals from all over the galaxy for sale. Everything from Loth Cats to Jabba’s little pet, Kowakian Lizard Monkeys. This pet shop gives an idea of the animals that are found all over the galaxy.

Black Spire Outfitters is where you will find everything you need to fit in with the locals, resistance, or First Order. A nice little clothing shop in merchant row that has just about everything you need to look like you’re from a galaxy far away.

Jewels of Birth is home to the jewelry from all over the galaxy. You can find necklaces, handbags, and even lamps at this stand off Merchants’ Row. They even have products from Alderaan, which I’m sure has become a rare thing around the galaxy.

Kat Saka’s Kettle is Kat Saka, the Batuuan Farmer’s little stand where you can get yourself snacks and drinks. Saka, a spice collector was able to make a grain-based snack food that is only found there, known as “the colorful Outpost Mix”.

Ronto Roasters

Everything is cooked over a podracing engine that has been modified for grilling. The owner, Bakkar, is a huge fan of podracing and you get the feel as soon as you walk in; he has podracing flags hanging all over the place.

This is where you can get yourself some exotic space meats (kind of). Ronto Roasters is home to Ronto and Nuna meat, which is skewered and cooked by the former smelter droid, 8D-J8, the finest chef in Galaxy’s Edge.

There are plenty of items to get there like the Nuna turkey jerky and Ronto wrap or its breakfast variant. There is also the Rising Moons Overnight Oats dish for the early adventurers. If all the exploring has made you thirsty then you can try the Meiloorun Juice, a Sour Sarlacc, or a Tatooine Sunset.

Oga’s Cantina

If those don't sound like they'll quench your thirst then there is always Oga Garra's Cantina. Here, you can find an array of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. These drinks, Batuu Brew, Black Spire Brew, Blurrgfire, Toniray White, Andoan White, Fuzzy Tauntaun and Moogan Tea.

Everything has a great Star Wars name and feel to it. The drinks are great and the decor is even better. This Cantina is a bit friendlier than the one in Mos Eisley as droids are allowed, the DJ is RX-24, an old pilot droid.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

When in his den you need to pay attention to everything in there. There are plenty of things hidden in there that are either for sale or just interesting artifacts to notice. You'll also see Ondar watching over everyone as you explore his shop.

This was one of my favorite places in all of Galaxy’s Edge. Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is full of interesting collectibles from all over. Ondar has proven how successful of a business owner he can be with his grand collection of treasures.

Savi’s Workshop

Savi's workshop is where you will be able to build your own lightsaber. It is rather expensive ($199.99) but the lightsaber quality is top notch. It is a great experience that allows you to choose from 4 different lightsaber themes, Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense.

The Gatherers will help guide you as you construct your tool from a more civilized age.

Droid Depot

Here is where you can build your own custom BB-8 or R2-D2 ($99.99). When you enter you'll tell the attendent which model you would like to choose and they will provide you with the blueprints necessary.

When you enter you’ll tell the attendant which model you would like to choose and they will provide you with the blueprints necessary. You’ll be able to construct the droid with your choice of colors and once finished you receive a remote for it. The remote will be able to bring your droid to life and allow you to control it from there.

Milk Stand

This is a beautifully decorated stand where you can help yourself to some blue or green milk. They get the green milk shipped overnight straight from Ahch-To. In my opinion the blue milk was much better than the green. *Pro-tip if you give it a little time to melt it gets creamier*

First Order Cargo

The First Order cargo is home to anything you need to gear yourself with everything First Order. Kylo Ren's ship is parked right outside and there are many artifacts from the First Order in the store. A great place to shop if you recognize Kylo Ren and the First Order as leaders.

Resistance Supply

This is where you can get everything you need to support the resistance and fight the First Order. There is plenty there to find that would look great in any Star Wars fan's collection. Here you'll be able to find an X-wing and A-wing, waiting to take off and fight.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

This is where you get recruited by Hando Ohnaka to do some work for pirates. A fun interactive game that allows you to enter the Falcon and even sit at the Dejarik table. You'll be put in groups of 6, where you break up to pilot, shoot, and repair the ship to escape the clutches of the First Order.

This is where the life-sized Falcon landed and waits for the next mission.

In my experience, the pilot was fun, but not for those who get dizzy easily. Repairs were pretty fun, but they could have made it more interactive. The shooting aspect was fun, you got to fire at the First Order, but it’s all about timing there.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

This is the newest addition to Galaxy's Edge. Here you will be able to ride in a cart as you watch the resistance fight the First Order aboard on of their ships. This ride is really exciting and a wonderful addition to the park.

I have spoken

Galaxy’s Edge is a great place to visit if you’ve always wanted to know what it’s like to step inside of Star Wars. Batuu is home to many fun characters and plenty of friendly staff happy to help you and show you what’s there. The decor is incredible and the landscape is truly out of this world. My only complaint is that it could have been larger.
