It’s been a week since the season one finale, and Ahsoka succeeded in bringing quality Star Wars content to Disney+. Don’t get me wrong, the previous projects, The Mandalorian, Kenobi, and The Bad Batch, all have something exquisite about them, but Ahsoka has done something different. Something unique. Something similar to the titular character and her creator.

The depth of the lore, the expansion of Galactic politics, and further insight into the Imperial scramble for power all have combined to help create a masterpiece. Ahsoka went through trials, a consistent for the character, that has opened her up to teaching an apprentice, embracing the past for what it is, and a profound connection with the Force that allowed her to finish the training she began during the Clone Wars.

The Characters

The complex nature of the villains, Baylon and Shin, is expressed heavily through each scene they appear. The confusion and desperation for a figure to look up to, combined with the emotionally and spiritually torn ex-Jedi, Baylon, is evidence for those who had survived the massacre wandering through the Galaxy, looking for a purpose.

The Empire is in the same boat, which is why Baylon and Morgan Elsbeth had worked so well together. She continues the desperate scramble to find Thrawn, a goal achieved through her connection to the Nightsisters, the Magik of Dathomir, and their origin in a distant Galaxy. Her position as a powerful business owner shows the relationship between Galactic corporations and the Empire. It shows that the Empire had infiltrated every aspect of their society.

The End

The cliffhanger at the end further enhances the mystery of the planet, the show, and the lore of the Force and Nightsister Magik. Although the heroes may be stuck, there is still more to uncover on this planet, as seen through Baylon’s quest to reveal what powers lie ahead. The statues he stands on at the end are the Father, Son, and Daughter, beings of the Force that appeared in The Clone Wars.

That particular arc, known as the “Mortis Arc,” had uncovered Anakin’s role in the Force, but it also elected Ahsoka to be more than just a Jedi. After Anakin placed the Daughter’s life force into Ahsoka to save her, she became connected to the Force through her.

It also shows that Ahsoka’s presence on this strange planet is no accident. The Daughter gave her life for Ahsoka, and there is a role that she must play in the Galaxy. Dave Filoni answered many questions while leaving us at the end with more. The writing for the series was exceptional; the characters had depth, the dialogue felt alive, and the story arcs were exciting. Filoni really succeeded with this one.

There is no doubt that fans can’t wait for season 2 of Ahsoka. There has been no confirmation yet, but the reception from fans and the cliffhanger at the end say otherwise.
