Did Mando’s New Ship Just Foreshadow Grogu’s Return?

If you haven’t seen Chapter 5 of The Book of Boba Fett this contains spoilers.

In the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett, Din Djarin, or Mando, was the front and center. The story picked up just as the excitement did for one of Mando’s jobs. We saw his search for his old covert come to a bitter end, but before he departed, he requested that the beskar staff gets turned into armor for Grogu. After the falling out, he set off to get a new ship from an old friend.

Peli Motto, one of Tatooine’s finest mechanics, found an N-1 Starfighter for Mando. This ship is no Razorcrest, but it can outrun just about any ship in the Galaxy. So, Mando now has a shiny new starfighter to go along with his Darksaber. They had some quality bonding as they rebuilt the ship and added plenty of after-market pieces that make it much more unique than anything they were flying on Naboo.

It looks like Mando has a tase in ships, too. Pre-Empire and shiny with some yellow lines. He’s a man who knows what he wants in life. And one thing is to see Grogu.

After Shand had recruited Mando, he said he needed to do one thing before. And that is to deliver Grogu his new armor and possibly bring him back into his care. It looks like Mando is just as good a dad as a bounty hunter.

But, the biggest thing that stood out about the ship is the modification directly behind the cockpit.

It looks like a perfect little spot for Grogu to safely sit back and enjoy the ride. Peli Motto knows that Mando isn’t a fan of droids (though that has changed drastically), and she swapped out the astromech spot for a passenger seat. Though the N1 may not offer the cargo space and hiding spots as the Razorcrest, the speed and firepower of this heavily modified ship will make up for all of that.

So, could this added space be meant to foreshadow Grogu’s return to The Mandalorian? Will his training with Luke be cut short? Will Mando and Grogu learn how to wield the Darksaber together? There are so many possibilities. We know that Luke’s Academy was destroyed and his students along with it, so this gives us hope to know that Grogu is still wandering around the Galaxy, looking for other Jedi to train.

Peli Motto could have done it because she doesn’t know exactly what happened, but Mando worked on the ship with her directly. There is a solid chance that it is intentional, and Mando plans to get Grogu back into his care. The Jedi/Mandalorian duo will be one for the ages. Grogu has become such a major part of The Mandalorian that it feels that the show simply won’t be the same without him, so season 3 could feature Mando on the search.

Mando mentioned that Gideon is still alive, and we’ve seen the power he has, so there is a possibility the Imperial remnants can break him out of prison. He could be looking for revenge, Grogu, and the Darksaber.

Plan to see more crossovers in the future. It looks like this is the direction that Disney is going with the shows, and quite honestly, that can be a fantastic thing. The connections between the movies and shows help add more depth to an already incredible franchise.
