With the second season of The Mandalorian coming right around the corner, Disney has given us a second look at what we can expect. This special look was an exciting minute, giving small glimpses at what to expect but also showing us the action that is going to come with season 2. Just from the looks of this, it seems that season 2 is going to start picking up the pace.
The Opening
As speculated after the season 2 trailer released, the ice planet that Mando is landing his broken down and damaged ship on seems to be Ilum. The sacred Jedi planet was home to Temples and the important kyber crystals that power a lightsaber. As seen in the Death Star, the kyber crystal can be used to power the planet-killing weapon.
As Mando enters the atmosphere, he is being followed by some New Republic X-wings. They are ordering him to “stand down” and with that, we can make the assumption that this planet has been occupied by the New Republic after seeing how powerful the kyber crystals are and having the technology and ability to weaponize them past a lightsaber. With that information out in the air now, it makes sense that the New Republic would lock down the planet.

But, with the planet’s history, it also makes perfect sense why Mando would go there, as he looks for the child’s species. We know that all Mando knows about this species is that he has “special powers” that the Jedi possessed, but like us, Mando has no idea what the child’s species is and only the Jedi, or what is left of the Jedi, will be able to help him.
Immediately after the shots of Mando crash landing, we are taken back to Nevarro, where we see some familiar faces. The audio over this scene gives us what we can expect for the show. We now know for sure what Mando’s mission is and who will be assisting him on the way.

Following there, we get a shot of a desert planet, what looks like Tatooine’s climate, but we could be taken elsewhere.
We are then taken back to where his ship is, what I am guessing as Ilum, and that is where we hear Mando continuing, “…if I can locate other Mandalorians, they could guide me.” Well, it looks like you are in luck Mando because a very talented Mandalorian is friends with a very powerful Jedi.
Sabine Wren will be a great partner to join the team and Ahsoka is a perfect candidate for helping to train the child and locate his origin through exploring Jedi temples and reading the ancient Jedi texts, hopefully finding clues about their species.
“Wherever I go, he goes”
I cannot wait to see how this entire episode plays out. We get some glimpses of the deep Star Wars underground, as we see some Gamorreans fighting in a ring and the Mandalorian talking to a very important looking figure. The whistling birds make another appearance, which is exciting to see.

The first time the Armorer had given him the whistling birds she tells him to “use them sparingly” because they are difficult to craft, so either Mando learns how to make them himself, he pays another visit to the Armorer, OR he meets some other Mandalorians to help craft them.
However it plays out, it will be an exciting thing to see. Hopefully, we get some more insight into the Mandalorians, their clans, and what is left of them. Similar to the Jedi, they were wiped out and they are hiding in the shadows trying to rebuild their numbers.
A stolen troop Transport
The next scene is a great one, the gang stole a troop transport from the Empire and are coming in hot, taking out scout troopers like nothing. But interestingly, it looks like we get to meet our friend from the first episode, again. It could be a new Mytrhol, but it looks a lot like him.

Did they break him out of jail? Mando was the one that captured him so it will be an interesting thing to see him team up with the gang. Then again, just about everyone hates the Empire, they are running from the Empire, and there is a good chance that the Mythrol from episode one’s bounty was put up by the Empire. Mando also did save his life from those thugs, they were definitely going to sell his gills at the market, there is no doubt about that.
The only question that remains, is what planet is this all happening on? We see some lava flowing and it’s clearly a volcanic terrain. I highly doubt the empire has any outposts that large on Nevarro. Sullust would be my next best guess, unless they introduce something new. But as seen in Battlefront, there is a huge battle that takes place there, during the time of The Empire.

What do you guys think is going to happen? Thank you for reading and remember, utinni!
