The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Breakdown

We are going to look at the brand new Trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2. Let’s pick it apart and get a closer look at what to expect come October 30th.

The Breakdown

The opening scene is a powerful one. It’s the classic Star Wars shot, we begin in space overlooking some planets, and next thing we know a spaceship is zooming overhead.

Except, this time, Mando’s ship is in need of some desperate repairs. It looks like it’s just lazily floating to the next planet. We can see the engines are having trouble, some pieces are flying off, and the back ramp is hanging open.

I don’t know what sort of trouble Mando has gotten himself in, but it looks like he’s heading over what looks like a gas planet to an ice planet or possibly a moon. It could be Maldo Kreis, the ice planet from the first episode, but I have a feeling this planet will be brand new.

The next scene that we get is Mando walking into a smaller looking city on a desert looking planet at night. The architecture of the buildings seems a bit different from what we have seen, so this will most likely be a new location as well.

Following Mando walking up to this city is a shot of a familiar planet with some familiar beings. We see a Sandperson riding a Bantha. Is that the term? A Sandpeople Person a Sandperson? I don’t know. But his ship looks like it’s in good condition now so I wonder if this will be before or after his dogfight.

Here we have Mando flying up on an ice planet, which will be different than the one in the first scene unless he returns to it. But here we can see his ship is in great condition and he and baby Yoda are most likely safe. From the shots later on in the trailer, it looks like they are going be exploring that crevice that they flew over and the shot following this one is most likely them landing on this very planet.

I really hope the reason why they are there is because they need to investigate some Jedi artifacts or temples. This is before the destruction of Ilum, so could they be on this beautiful ice bucket that is sacred to the Jedi?

Next, we get to see Mando and Baby Yoda walking up on a dock, we get a refugee traveling vibe from this, but Mando is still in full armor so he sticks out like a sore thumb. I feel like I can confidently say he’s on Mon Calamari here, there are a bunch of Quarren working on the docks and that is their home planet. The business he has there? He’s probably looking for a clue of some type to finding the Jedi.

In the docks watching him, we have Sasha Banks who is going to play Sabine Wren, so we have confirmation there. It looks like a Mandalorian is tracking a Mandalorian. I can’t wait to see them connect and meet up.

The boat Mando and the child are on is going somewhere they need. Like I said earlier, my best guess is that they are going to look up on a clue, perhaps Ahsoka is hiding out on this watery world and Sabine is a lookout for Ahsoka, so that why she has a presence on the docks watching Mando and the child.

We have some X-wings pulling up to Mando’s ship, except these bad boys aren’t blue and they look beat up. They look like ships from the Galactic Civil war, more specifically red Squadrons.

The next scene is Mando being chased in the clouds by the x-wings so I’m going to go ahead and say that these guys are the reason why his ship was looking so heavily damaged in the first scene we saw. The vibe from the chase was not a good one and so it will interesting to see who is piloting these ships.

Next, we have Mando speeding on what looks like Nevarro, running into his old friends and of course Moff Gideon’s signature TIE fighter. Except there are 3 of them. Could there be more Moffs like himself who are after the child?

Karga and Dune are looking like they have had some peace and quiet on the planet and they look happy to see Mando, so this will be a great reunion to see.

The action picks up on a rocky, almost volcanic looking planet. We have some scout troopers riding their speeder bikes after what we can assume is Mando and the child and this scene are freaking sweet. The way they drop off the cliff is so epic and the landing is clean. These guys are coming in hot. It looks like Gideon will be a real presence here.

Mando looks like he’s in some trouble here, but he’s got several gadgets, so I wouldn’t doubt one of them will get him out of this situation. The setting there looks very similar to the volcanic backgrounds as before, we can only hope that the child is in good hands.

Mando’s jetpack makes an epic appearance as he rockets across the canyon in pursuit of most likely the child. The scout troopers looked real determined, so I wouldn’t doubt if they got their hands on him again.

Finally, we get a glimpse of those Gamorean guards that Favreau teased to us months ago. It looks like some underground wrestling match, except its what I assume to the death. This is some gladiator stuff, these aliens fighting like the coliseum.

There is a green, Shrek looking guy with one eye who talks to Mando and essentially jumps him and this brings us to some good action. I want to say this will be another antagonist for the show, but after what Mando pulls, I’m not sure if he’ll be around after that episode.

This is also where we get my favorite part in the entire trailer, the whistling birds make an appearance just after Mando gets jumped and the child already knows what’s going on. His dad is crazy. He can drop every single person in the room in a matter of seconds and so the child makes the smart move and hits the cover.

This is hilarious and I love that it shows he’s learning how deadly his dad is and that he is aware of situations like this. It looks like the child is starting to age and this is some exciting news.

Entertainment Earth

It goes black as we here the destruction Mando rains down on these guys and then finally, we are back with an epic kill shot to the heart. Mando is a master of fighting this guy can take just about everyone. This part got me soo hyped so fast. Even when it went all black, we know what’s going on, let’s be real.

The voice that was talking over the trailer was the Armorer’s from season 1. As we remember, she had told Mando what he needs to do with the foundling. According to their creed, he must find his home or train him as one of their own.

Mando, the honorable man he is will follow the creed and ensure this child’s safety. An interesting thing, the Mandalorians are cold-blooded killers, they can take down anyone and they rival the Jedi, but just look at the creed and the lengths that Mando is going to keep this child safe. That is an incredible thing.

The Armor’s dialogue sets the tone for what to except for the next season and perhaps the show. My guess is that the species is the Jedi, they exist to keep it alive and help spread the force across the galaxy.

Thank you for reading and remember… utinni!
