Donald Glover Confirms His Role in Disney+ Series “Lando”; First News Since 2020

With all the hype around shows like The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it feels that some other shows have fallen under the radar. One of those shows is “Lando,” the show about a young Lando Calrissian as he makes a name for himself in the galaxy.

The last we heard about this show was Disney Investor Day in 2020 when Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy had announced it.

Recently, Donald Glover has finally given us some information about the show, but more importantly, a confirmation that the show is still alive. On an episode of Jimmy Kimmel, he asked him about his role in the upcoming “Lando” project.

His response was:

“Am I? Just telling all my business. No, yeah, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom then go away. Right now is definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on, but I just want it all to come out at the same time, so I feel like that’s what’s important.”

He may not have explicitly announced that he is Lando, but he certainly did not deny it. This is enough to come to the conclusion that Donald Glover will return as Lando Calrissian. The secretive attitude he has about his work and his interest in “blossoming and going away” would explain the silence surrounding the show, as would Donald Glover’s preference that his work all come out at the same time.

It would be interesting that the lack of buzz around the show is due to Glover’s preferences and not Lucasfilm, considering how influential they are. His role as young Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story was well-received, although the movie itself did not perform so well at the box office, so the silence would reinforce how important it is for him to have this role.
