Welcome to another addition to the Star Wars planet series. We have finally reached the original trilogy and we are finally going to look at the movie that started it all! This is one of my all-time favorites and I never get sick of watching this movie over and over. There are so many spectacular aspects to it, but I don’t need to tell you that.

The first planet that we get to see in the Star Wars universe is the beautiful sand filled planet that is Tatooine. But, we went over that video in the first video The Phantom Menace planets…

So, we are going to look at the next planet that is on the list to explore is…

Alderaan

This is a bit of a mysterious planet simply because all we had seen was it explode. It wasn’t until the end of Episode 3 when Leia gets taken to her new home that we see what the planet looks like, or if you have played KOTOR then you have an idea of what the planet’s climate and the terrain look like.

Alderaan is the planet that is most like our own. There are beautiful oceans and gorgeous lush forests. It was located in the core worlds and was covered with mountains. The planet was run by Queen Breha Organa and represented by her husband, Bail Organa. Princess Leia was adopted into this royal family.

After the rise of the empire, Alderaan had played an early and large role in supplying the Rebel Alliance with a haven, supplies, and financial support. As we had seen in Rebels, the Rebels ALWAYS stole “diplomatic ships” from the Alderaan representatives. But, of course, they were not stolen but staged to make it look like Alderaan was not cooperating with the rebels.

Known as the planet of beauty, Alderaan suffered a tragic fate when Grand Moff Tarkin had finally had enough of their antics and plotting with the Rebel alliance and blew up the planet with the Death Star, the first display of its power and ability to wipe out an entire planet, not just a city. Leia was forced to watch the destruction of her homeworld, where she was heiress to the Alderaan Royal House.

The destruction had caused much fear in the galaxy, but it inspired the rebels to rally and destroy the technological terror.

YAVIN 4

Yavin 4 is the next moon to look at and this is where the rebel alliance seeks refuge and rallies before going to attack the death star. It circles the Red gas giant Yavin Prime and has no significant resources within the moon.

Yavin 4 is in the outer rim territories of the galaxy and is a remote location. The moon is covered with thick jungles and some amazing looking ancient buildings.

The Massassi lived on Yavin 4 5,000 years before the Battle of Yavin and were the ones who constructed the beautiful Great Temple. The Massassi people were enslaved by the Sith and were entirely wiped out many years before the events of A New Hope, which is why the temple as we see it is overgrown and has not been tended to.

Dantooine

A planet that is mentioned in the conversation between Leia and Tarkin is Dantooine. This is a planet in the outer rim territories of the galaxy and is host to lush forests and green landscapes. As Tarkin had stated, Dantooine is a remote location and is safe.

This was the first planet that they used as a base, but by the time of the Battle of Scarif it had been completely abandoned, so it looks like Leia didn’t rat out her friends after-all. By that time the rebels were already on Yavin-4 hiding in those beautiful temples.

After Tarkin had sent some troops to investigate, they discovered the empty base and that is when Tarkin gave the order to execute the princess.

And those are all the planets that I have for you today, I did not talk about the Death Star, because it is built by man and therefore I can make another article talking about the specs and so much more of the Death Star.

What is your favorite planet from A New Hope? Let me know in the comments and thank you for reading! Oh and remember… utinni!

One response to “A New Hope Planets”

  1. Actually the Massassi were the warrior caste of the Pureblood (red skinned) Sith, who were all technically lorded over by the fallen jedi that discovered them.
